These French parts of speech resources will support your teaching of les classes de mots!
You might have had students who kept confusing rapide and rapidement, or bien and bon. Things would be easier for them if they had a clear idea of the differences between adjectives and adverbs, for example.
Understanding what parts of speech are and how to use them is essential in any language.

French Parts of Speech Resources: Posters
Posters are great teaching tools because they help students visualize concepts that might otherwise be too abstract.
This set includes 8 posters, one for each of the following parts of speech: noms, verbes, adjectifs, adverbes, prépositions, pronoms, conjonctions, déterminants.
Each poster includes a simple definition of one part of speech, an illustration, and examples of that part of speech.

French Parts of Speech Resources: Clip Cards
“Kids learn best when they’re having fun!” I don’t know who said that, but the person was absolutely right.
Clip cards are fun, engaging activities that will get your students learning more about parts of speech as if they were playing a game Image may be NSFW.

As you can see in the picture above, the idea is for kids to “clip” the right answer with a clothespin. Paper clips will work as well. If the cards are laminated, students can circle the right answer with a dry-erase marker.
There are two ways to deal with corrections:
- before laminating the cards, make a little dot with a pen or put a sticker on the back of the correct answer. That way, kids can clip the card and flip to see if they got the answer right. The only thing is that some kids might “cheat”, which is why the next suggestion is better, in my opinion.
- give kids answer recording sheets (included in the sets) so that they can write down their answers. This prevents “cheating” and gives them extra writing practice.
As an alternative, you might decide NOT to cut out the cards and use the sheets inserted into page protectors as “worksheets”. Students choose the answers using dry-erase markers. See picture below:
